Wait Not, Want Not: Factors Contributing to the Development of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa

Eating disorders have grown to epidemic proportions in our culture. The purpose of this literature review is to examine prevalence and incident rates of both anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. In addition, this article will review the psychological and sociological factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of an eating disorder. Finally, different treatment approaches will be discussed in relation to their effectiveness in addressing anorexia or bulimia.
