Structural Family Therapy and its Implications for the Asian American FamilyCurry School of Education Asian American families often consist of the immigrant generation (parents) and the first generation (children). Because acculturation experiences vary for the different generations, conflict between family members may easily occur. Structural family therapy is presented as an approach that may be effective in helping Asian American families overcome the difficulties caused by differing acculturation experiences.
