Fathering TodayLoyola University-Chicago Because women literally carry the baby, it has always been possible for men to walk away from sexual intercourse without concern about whether impregnation resulted. With technology today, intercourse is no longer necessary for parenting, but a sperm donor is. However, there is a new awareness of the importance of fathering to a man, his children, and his partner in the parenting role. Men are increasingly concerned and attentive to the pleasures and challenges of fatherhood.
