The Presentation Effect and the Family Counseling LiteratureDepartment of Counseling and Educational Psychology, New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM 88003-0001. This article addresses the "presentation effect" that occurs when text-books offer minimal or no coverage of a topic and thus leave studentsmarginally informed or unaware of potentially important information. A recent four-article exchange from the family counseling literature regarding textbook coverage of abortion and adoption is reviewedto highlight this issue.
