Community Family CounselingDepartment of Counseling and Educational Psychology at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM 88003-0001 From a systems perspective, family counseling is not a matter offocusing either on the family's dynamics or on contextual factors; rather, it is a process that considers both. Family counselors can widen their horizons and achieve their systems goals by considering community as a basis for their work. A review of a recent articlefrom the family counseling literature offers an example and highlights relevant recommendations for community family counselors.
