Taking an Evolutionary Perspective: The Solution-Oriented Genogram

Charles H. Huber

Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology, Box 30001/Dept. 3 CEPJ

The genogram is a traditional and widely usedfamily counseling procedure. The relatively recent arrival of a number of evolving therapeutic models has resulted in a need to update the genogram s use. This article reviews a recent contribution to the family counseling literature, highlighting a series of interventions for using the genogram within one of these evolutionary therapeutic models, the Solution-Oriented Family Counseling.
