Teaching Family Concepts Through Case Study

Three cases are presented that are designed to generate discussion of system-based hypotheses from trainees in family counseling. The cases involve many key concepts that tend to emerge within initial interviews. Several key system ideas are presented for each case. Follow-up information is provided that helps to present a fuller picture of the individuals described, as well as to emphasize the importance of recognizing the adaptive capabilities of human beings.
