A Social Constructionist Approach to Counseling Religious CouplesDepartment of Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education at the University of Colorado at Denver, Campus Box 106, P.O. This article describes the challenges couples andfamily counselors may encounter when working with particular religious clients, presents a rationale for integrating religious beliefs and counseling, suggests a so-cial constructionist perspective as a means of viewing the dilemma, and,by way of a case illustration, offers practical strategies for enhancingcouples counseling with this population.
