Assessment Education in Marriage and Family CounselingUniversity of South Carolina Recent research reports that marriage andfamily clinicians describe the use of standardized assessment as "of little importance." However these results contradict the potential advantages of the use of standardized measures for clients, clinicians, and the therapeutic process. This contrast may be explained by the hypothesis that students use what they are taught, prompting a review of assessment course curricula.
